An organizational meeting was held January 2, 1992 at 12:30 p.m. at the Partridge Inn to establish a new Woman's Club. The following people were in attendance:

  • Rosemarie Martin

A meeting date and place was suggested, the third Wednesday at 11:30. In order to encourage professional women to become associated with us we suggested a downtown location for our luncheons and meetings. We chose the Pinnacle Club and Rosemarie Martin agreed to make the arrangements.

  • Bette Pittman served as temporary chairman.
  • Dottie London served as temporary recording secretary.
  • Marge Jones served as temporary treasurer.

The By Laws committee met at the home of Carol Parsons on Thursday, January 30, 1992 at which time the suggested By Laws to be presented to the Club were begun. We met again on Thursday, February 7, 1992 to complete the suggested By Laws and Standing Rules to be presented at the February 19, 1992 meeting.

The second organizational meeting was held February 19, 1992 at the Pinnacle Club at 11:30 a.m. The following people were present:

The By Laws as presented by the committee were presented and voted into effect. The meeting date of the third Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. at the Pinnacle Club was established as the date and time for future meetings. Rosemarie Martin agreed to accept the responsibility of making the luncheon arrangements.

This new beginning is an exciting time for each of us and everyone joined in the responsibilities that are required to make it a success. Each committee chairman accepted along with the officers in one accord to make our new Club one of commitment to the community and our GaFWC.

After a lovely luncheon we adjourned to begin the necessary work for our March meeting and our Tenth District Meeting to be held March 25th in Augusta also.

The club has been very successful in all our national and special local projects.

  • Making quilts, to be taken home, for abandoned HIV babies in the hospital.
  • Making special pillows for children, from home trauma situations, in homes for abused children.
  • Working with a local school on special needs for fourth and fifth graders.
  • Donating monies for landscaping in the city of Augusta.
  • Talulla Falls School has been supported by our club through district and also on a project basis.
  • One of our money raising projects has been a used clothing store. The items not sold are donated to the Home for Abused Women.
  • We have had a lot of fun along the way. As well as, a proud sense of Civic Service.
